John, National Sales Manager. UNIT

Initially I was drawn to CrossFit Sandringham’s website images and found it is the closest ‘box’ to my home which made a big difference as I wanted to train in the mornings and traffic can be a nightmare. The drive along the beach rd is great in the mornings!

My most memorable workout was MURPH – One of the hardest training sessions I have ever put myself through. I got rid of some demons that day and really turned a corner in what I thought I could achieve. After this session I started to enjoy pushing myself harder and harder. CrossFit is tough – no doubt, but, it makes you tougher and stronger both mentally and physically to a level that you would think is reserved for elite athletes. Small steps – and I’m not there yet but – they all add up as long as you keep turning up regularly.

What I like best about CrossFit Sandringham is – the CULTURE is great, everyone trains with the same commitment …. 100% to the finish, and everyone finishes together as a team regardless of whether you RX’d it or scaled it down. Very encouraging!! I have only been to a couple of other boxes and the biggest difference I found was the ENERGY, CrossFit Sandringham has an amazing ENERGY about it, when everyone is quiet looking at the clock as it counts down from 10 seconds until you start the WOD and everyone is nervous but committed, it’s the best feeling ….being around people that won’t give up until it’s done is a great place to be.

One thing a noticed myself doing after I started training for a few weeks (probably after MURPH) is I started to FOCUS on my weaknesses because any improvement here would make a huge difference in my training. I found this crossed over to my work where I started to look at area’s where I was also weak and started to improve them, then as a Father and then as a Husband …. you just get addicted to improving your weak areas and everything improves. Not a bad addiction in my book!!

Life is always changing! If you are not one that embraces change then you will get left behind or frustrated or both …. CROSSFIT is about taking change head on and smashing it out of the stadium, ROUTINE IS THE ENEMY. I have more ENERGY and make better decisions through a Stronger, Fitter Body and Mind …. I don’t think the questions is ‘Why should you join?’ It should be ‘Why wouldn’t you join the CrossFit Sandringham community?‘ Every decision and action starts with you so why not get your MIND and BODY right first!

I joined CrossFit Sandringham because I was looking for a new challenge and variety in my fitness regime.  What I love is that the workout is different everyday, and always challenging!   My most memorable workout (so far) was “Murph” – exhausting!Fortunately the supportive group encouraged each other to get through the workout. 300 squats and my legs were in pain for a while!
Since joining the CrossFit Sandringham community my general strength has improved significantly, I feel stronger than I ever have before which has improved my distance running.
The CrossFit Sandringham community is a great group of supportive people and has great coaches.  At CrossFit Sandringham you will be pushed outside your comfort zone to achieve greater results.

Steve, Engineer
I first found out about CrossFit from my brother after discussing how I wanted to get fit again.  I wasn’t sure whether joining a gym was going to help me achieve my goal. My past experiences with gyms are that my goals don’t align with their goals i.e. I want to get fit whereas they were only interested in signing me up on a contract and don’t care too much thereafter!  I decided to do a little bit of research on CrossFit and soon realised – this approach to fitness actually makes sense!  I was keen to get started, however I was unfamiliar with most of the prescribed exercises and how to scale / substitute.  Hence I was pleasantly surprised to find a CrossFit affiliate so close to home!  I phoned up to book myself in for an introductory session and haven’t looked back since.
The last workout I have done is always the most memorable! I really don’t have one that stands out more than any other as they all have a unique way of pushing your body to the limits.  I must say however, that some are quite ‘deceptive’ in that they don’t seem too taxing, but prove to be the exact opposite.‘Fran’ (21-15-9 of thrusters and pull-ups) comes to mind as it is a well-known WOD in the CrossFit community.  I remember thinking, how tough can this one be?  Well, I don’t know what it is about those two exercises in combination that make it so punishing.  Anyone who’s done ‘Fran’ will know what I’m talking about.
Above all, what I like best about CrossFit Sandringham are the people.  The coaches are professional, supportive, focus on proper technique and help you strive to constantly better yourself.  Plus you train in a small, friendly, encouraging group, whom all share the same goal of improving their own level of fitness.  CrossFit Sandringham is different in that it caters for anyone, at any fitness level, prepared to push their own boundaries.  You’re only ever competing against yourself! The coaches carefully scale or substitute exercises if required, to make sure you can complete the workouts safely, yet at the same time provide an intense session for you
I’m on my way of attaining the level of fitness I had during my late teenage years.  In recent years, after having graduated from university and joined the work force full time, I found my health had taken a back seat to other things in life.  I am now serious about making a lifestyle change to improve my overall health and fitness for now and for the years to come – as clichéd as that sounds! In the short time I’ve been training with CrossFit Sandringham, my physical conditioning has improved dramatically.  It would have been nice to have found out about CrossFit years earlier!
